Acid nail primer is the strongest adhesion product you can use before a nail set. Acid Primer 10 ml degreases and dries the nail plate, so base coat, builder gel and acrylic hold even where everything used to lift after a few days.

When to reach for an acid nail primer
This primer is designed for a problematic nail plate: oily, overly moist, or one where the nail set will not last despite correct preparation. If your client's gel polish lifts at the nail fold after just a week, the cause is often insufficient preparation of the natural nail plate.
It is a strong product with a liquid consistency, which is why it needs care during application. It has an intense smell, which is normal for this type of product and does not mean there is anything wrong with it.
How an acid primer works: what happens to the nail plate
Acid primer contains an acid that microscopically etches the surface of the nail plate and removes moisture. This creates a rough structure that nail products grip much more firmly. The product increases adhesion across the whole nail, including at the nail fold and the free edge.
Its effectiveness is most visible with gel polish or gel sets on nails that get oily quickly. Where gentler products fail, this one simply works.
Acid or acid-free primer: the differences
The choice between an acid and an acid-free primer depends on the condition of the nails, not on the type of nail set. Acid-free primer works gently: it does not damage the plate, it only changes its pH and degreases the nail plate. Acid primer is stronger: it gives better adhesion of products, but it is not suitable for thin and sensitive nails.
In practice, most stylists keep both types on their nail desk. For thin, weakened nails and nails after illness you choose an acid-free primer, and for difficult, oily nail plates you choose this product. Using the right primer for the nail type has a bigger effect on how long a nail set lasts than the brand of base coat.
Many stylists find it easiest to remember it this way: you use acid-free products by default, and you reach for the acid one when a nail set lifts despite correct work.
How to apply nail primer step by step
Start nail preparation by working on the cuticles and matting the nail plate with a buffer block, then brush off the dust. Next, degrease the nail plate with nail cleanser, and for very moist nails use a nail dehydrator as well.
Wipe the brush thoroughly on the neck of the bottle: the primer is liquid and it is easy to pick up too much. Apply the product in a dot in the middle of the nail plate and let it spread on its own. Do not press the brush into the cuticles, and avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Wait until it has evaporated completely: the nail plate will turn matte and white. The primer must be left to dry before the next stage of the nail set. Applying base coat over primer that has not dried is the most common mistake, which can trap air under the nail set and ends in chips at the nail fold.
Acid Primer 10 ml: who we recommend this primer for
This product suits stylists who work on clients with a difficult nail plate: one that gets oily, with a tendency for gel polish and gel sets to lift. We also recommend it for extensions, where builder gel and acrygel are used over a long length and the product has to withstand a much greater load than in an ordinary manicure.
The 10 ml size lasts a long time, because you use the product very sparingly. It is a good choice for all nail types that need strong preparation, from natural nails to gel nails at infills.
Acid and acid-free primer in nail sets
For a gel polish manicure on a healthy nail plate, an acid-free product or a bonder is usually enough. Keep the acid primer for situations where gentler products have failed: there is no point etching the nail plate just in case, because it is an extra strain on the nail.
When working with gel and acrylic, especially on longer extensions, this primer is sometimes the only solution that gives enough adhesion for the whole time the set is worn. You will find other nail plate preparation products in the nail prep category.
