Nail flowers – two types of decoration

Flowers on nails come back every season, and a ready-made nail decoration gets you that look quickly and consistently. Flowernesski come in two versions. Dried flowers are flat and light, look natural and can be encapsulated in gel. 3D flowers are raised, have a distinct shape and create a dimensional design. Which you choose depends on whether the set should be smooth or have a noticeable element.

Dried flowers for nails

Dried flowers are a nail art favourite that suits both gel polish and builder gel manicures. Each pack contains 5 pieces, and you can choose from 9 shades: white, yellow, orange, coral, pink, pastel pink, purple, turquoise and mint. You can arrange each flower differently, so no two designs are ever identical. You'll find all the colours in the dried flowers category.

How to apply dried flowers

  1. Apply any colour and cure it in the lamp.
  2. Place the flowers on the cured polish and press them down. Tweezers are handy for moving tiny pieces.
  3. Apply Pure Shine Top and cure for 30 seconds. Seal the free edge of the nail with top coat too.

Before you apply the top coat, check that the decoration lies flat and its edges aren't lifting. If you work with builder gel, you can encapsulate the flowers in a layer of product.

3D flowers for nail art

3D flowers come in packs of 200: 60 large and 140 small. Two sizes let you create a delicate accent or a richer composition. The colours are white, blue jeans, peach, lime green, buttery yellow, neon pink, and pastel pink, blue and purple. White suits bridal, baby boomer and French designs. You'll find the whole palette in the 3D flowers category.

How to apply 3D flowers

  1. Mix a small amount of Naked Base or Thin Base with a drop of top coat.
  2. Apply the mixture where the decoration will go.
  3. Place the flower and gently coat around it with the product.
  4. Cure the design in the lamp.

You don't need a special glue, just the products you already have at your nail desk: gel polish base coat and top coat.

Which background suits nail flowers best

Flowers stand out most on a light background: milky, nude or light pink. On a dark colour the decoration will be less visible. Two or three flower colours look good in one set. On short nails a single element is enough, while on longer nails you can place more. For inspiration, read our post on nail flowers, and if you prefer a flat, graphic pattern, take a look at nail stickers.
