Thin Base 2.0 base coat is one of the hardest bases in the Julia Nessa gel polish and gel manicure range. The new formula was developed to prepare the natural nail plate thoroughly and to make the whole nail set last longer.

Thin Base 2.0 has a thin consistency and is designed for the so-called rub-in method. Working the base into the nail this way bonds it closely to the natural nail plate and creates the right layer for the products that follow. The base smooths the surface of the nail, so the manicure looks even and neat.

The improved formula creates a strong protective layer, so Thin Base 2.0 also works well for nail sets on brittle and weakened nails. The hard, durable layer helps the manicure resist damage, chips and breaks.

The base comes with an ergonomic brush of just the right width and bristle flexibility, which makes even, precise application easier. Match the amount of product to the size of the natural nail plate. After curing, Thin Base 2.0 leaves a sticky (inhibition) layer that helps the next products bond.

Types of base coats – when to choose Thin Base 2.0

Every nail base has a different job in a nail set. Thin Base 2.0 is a hard base coat with a thin consistency – you rub it thinly into the nail plate to improve adhesion and wear and to create a protective layer on the natural nail. If you want colour, levelling and shape building, reach for a thicker base.

What does a base coat do?

The base coat is responsible for how well the whole nail set adheres to the nail plate and how long the manicure lasts. A good base for gel polish is one that suits the condition of your client's nails and the job in hand: choose Thin Base 2.0 when you need a hard, thin layer, including on brittle and weakened nails, and a thicker rubber base when you want to level the nail plate and build shape. Apply the base thinly, without flooding the cuticles.

Order of work: degrease the nail plate with Nail Fresh, apply SuperBond or Primer, massage in a thin layer of Thin Base 2.0 and cure it in the lamp. Apply gel polish or gel over the base, and finish with a top coat, e.g. High Gloss Top no-wipe. You'll find every type in the base coats category.
