Builder gel with glitter – what makes Tixy Cover Diamond Pink stand out?

Most builder gels come in solid colours: pinks, beiges and milky shades such as Tixy Cover Milky. Diamond Pink combines a pink base with silver glitter, so it works well in a manicure when your client likes a subtle effect and you want to achieve it at the build stage, without extra layers. Thixotropy and light levelling – how the gel behaves on the nail

Tixy is a line developed in 2018 for the no-file technique. Its most important feature is thixotropy, known as ‘shape memory’. In the jar, Diamond Pink is thick, and once applied to the nail it becomes slightly thinner. It stays where you put it, though, like a drop on a rough surface – it doesn’t run or spread as quickly as standard builder gels, so you can easily keep control of the nail shape.

The consistency is lightly levelling: after a moment the surface of the gel becomes smooth and level. This is not the same as a self-levelling gel, which spreads on its own – here the levelling happens, but the material stays where you put it. That way you can work out a perfect shape with the brush, and the file is used mainly for finishing.

How to extend nails with a glitter gel – step by step

Application is the same as with the other Tixy gels. Start with preparation, because adhesion and the durability of the nail set depend on it:

1. Degrease and dehydrate the surface of the nail plate, e.g. with Nail Fresh dehydrator, then apply a primer or SuperBond chosen for your client.
2. Apply the base coat and cure it.
3. Apply a thin layer of Tixy Cover Diamond Pink over the cured base coat.
4. Add the right amount of gel and spread it to create a perfect apex and an ideal shape.
5. Wait a moment for the surface to level.
6. Cure: 120 seconds in a 36W UV lamp or 60 seconds in a 48W DUAL LED lamp – adjust the time to the power of your lamp.

Finally, you can add shine to the structure with a top coat, e.g. High Gloss Top no wipe, or move on to the next stages of the manicure. Remember to protect the gel from light – close the jar straight after taking out a portion and don’t leave it next to the lamp.

Diamond Pink or Master Cloud Pink Gel – which builder gel should you choose for pink nail sets?
