Rubber base in a pink shade – a flexible rubber base for French and nude nails
Rubber base differs from a classic gel polish base mainly in its flexibility. The Pink version combines this with a natural pink tint, which is why it is the ideal foundation for a French or baby boomer – you can also use it for bridal (wedding nails) and nude nail sets. It partially masks imperfections and unevenness of the plate, gives the look of natural, healthy nails and allows a light build-up over the natural nail plate.
- Type: Rubber Base rubber base coat 8 ml, a flexible product.
- Colour: pink, pigmentation 60–70%.
- Camouflage: partially hides imperfections of the nail plate.
- Overlay: allows a light strengthening of the natural nail plate.
- Lamp: 36W UV (120 seconds) or 48W DUAL LED (30 seconds) – choose to suit the equipment in your salon.
- Best for: weak and brittle nails; a base for French, baby boomer, bridal and nude nail sets.
- Volume: 8 ml, made in Europe.
Benefits of a flexible base coat in a gel polish manicure
Flexibility is the main reason nail stylists reach for flexible base coats on weak, brittle and problematic nails. A base that works well with the nail plate is a solid foundation for a gel polish manicure – it strengthens the whole nail set and helps it last, yet doesn’t need a thick layer. In the Pink version you also get colour: the pink tint evens out the tone of the nail, so the next gel polish or a top coat on its own looks like it sits on an even, well-kept background.
How to apply Rubber base coat step by step
- Degrease and dry the nail plate with Nail Fresh.
- Once it has dried, apply SuperBond or a primer, choosing it to suit the nail plate.
- Apply a first, thin layer of Rubber base coat, working it into the nail.
- Apply a second layer – build the apex and even out the natural curves of the nail.
- Cure the base coat: 30 seconds in a 48W DUAL LED lamp or 120 seconds in a 36W UV lamp.
Curing time for Rubber base coat in a UV lamp is shorter than for the Naked base coats (120 instead of 180 seconds) – keep that in mind if you work with both ranges in your salon. A well-prepared nail plate and a suitably chosen lamp are the foundation of a long-lasting nail set, whether you work with gel polish or with gels. Before you apply the second layer, check that the first has fully covered the free edge. Apply the product leaving a small gap from the cuticles and make sure the brush doesn’t leave excess at the nail folds – base coat on the skin weakens the adhesion of the polish and may cause irritation.
A pink base coat for gel polish, French and nude with a top coat
After curing, you have a few options. For a nude nail set, it’s enough to cover the base with a top coat, e.g. Pure Shine top coat 8 ml, no-wipe – the pink tint on its own gives a well-kept nail look. For French and baby boomer, the base creates a pink backdrop for a white smile line or a colour fade. You’ll find ideas for classic designs in the post French nails – inspiration for a French manicure.
You can also apply any gel polish – the pink base partly evens out the tone under the polish. Spread the polish thinly, cure it according to its own instructions and seal the whole nail set with a top coat. For neons and pastels, choose the milky version instead, designed for exactly such polishes; Pink looks best under light, natural colours and a white French.
Rubber Base – which 8 ml variant should you choose?
The range includes four 8 ml versions, each with a different job:
- Pink – a pink base for French, baby boomer, bridal and nude nail sets.
- Natural – an equally good base for French and baby boomer.
- Rubber Base Milky – milky, 60–70% coverage, it boosts neon colours and makes pastel polishes easier to apply.
- Rubber Base Clear – the version you can also use as a base under gel; choose it if you work with gels.
If instead of flexibility you need a medium-hard base to strengthen the nail plate, take a look at the Naked range, and if you also work with another technique alongside gel polish, see the builder gels for nails category – e.g. the porcelain shades with 60% and 80% pigmentation.
Who is this Rubber Base for?
It’s a base coat for nail stylists who work every day with problematic, weak and brittle nails and want to combine flexibility with a natural colour. It works well for bridal prep, when you’re doing a classic French or baby boomer, and in minimalist nude nail sets where the look of well-kept hands is what counts. Thanks to the option of a light overlay, you can also improve the shape and evenness of the nail plate before moving on to colour. It’s worth matching the variant of the base to the effect you’re planning for the nail set, not only to the condition of the nail plate.

Can I wear this base with just a top coat?
Yes. For nude nail sets it’s enough to apply a top coat and you’re done – 60–70% pigmentation gives the nails a natural look.
Which gel polish should I apply over the pink Rubber Base?
Any – it’s a base for gel polish. White French, baby boomer and light, natural polishes look best on it. For neons and pastels we recommend the Milky version.
Is Rubber Base suitable under gel?
As a base under gel we recommend the Clear version. The Pink version is described as a base for French, baby boomer and nude nail sets.
How does Rubber Base differ from Naked Base?
Rubber Base is a flexible product, created mainly for weak and brittle nails. The Naked bases are medium-hard and allow you to build up the natural nail plate.
How long should I cure Rubber Base Pink?
30 seconds in a 48W DUAL LED lamp or 120 seconds in a 36W UV lamp.
