Builder gels, also called sculpting gels, are responsible for the shape of the nails and the strength of the nail set. The Smooth series gels have been developed with an entirely new formula, so that they are as easy as possible to work with and always give a beautiful result. Candy Pink combines hardness with levelling – exactly what the nail stylists this series was made for are looking for. Hardness and durability translate into a solid structure and a long-lasting nail set, and levelling helps you get a smooth surface without lengthy smoothing out with a brush.

Builder gel for nail extensions on a form

Smooth Gel is a series you can use successfully when working on nail forms. A well-fitting form is the basis of the right shape – our nail forms for extensions will help you choose. The levelling formula makes it easier to sculpt an extension with an even surface, and the hard gel gives the structure solid support.

The most important moment in this work is the C-curve. You can pinch Candy Pink – we recommend doing it after about 20 seconds in a 48W DUAL LED lamp, and then finishing the cure. This makes it easier to give the structure a perfect shape and an even C-curve.

50–60% coverage, for semi-transparent, glass-like nails

The pink colour of Candy Pink is clearly visible, but at 50–60% coverage it is not fully opaque. The effect is glassy and natural – a good choice for clients who like pink in a subtle version. If your client prefers a more defined, milky pink colour, reach for Smooth Gel Light Pink 50 ml with 70–80% coverage.

You can leave the structure in natural pink or cover it with gel polish and a top coat – it depends on the design you agree with your client.

How to apply Smooth Gel Candy Pink builder gel – step by step

• After prepping the cuticles and finishing the manicure, degrease and dry the nail with Nail Fresh.
• Once the Nail Fresh has dried, apply SuperBond or a primer, choosing it to suit your client’s needs – the adhesion of the whole nail set depends on this step.
• Massage the first layer of base coat into the nail and cure it.
• If you’re doing extensions, fit a nail form. Apply a thin layer of gel over the cured base coat.
• Spread the right amount of gel to create a perfect apex.
• Cure for 120 seconds in a 48W DUAL LED lamp. If you’re pinching the C-curve, do it after about 20 seconds and then put the hand back in the lamp.

Who is this pink builder gel for, and which volume should you choose?

Candy Pink works well for a nail stylist who focuses on gel nail sets – wants to do extensions or build up natural nails – and is looking for a gel that is hard yet easy to level. Stylists who work with one structure colour for most of the day will appreciate a hard builder gel in a large pack. The 50 ml pack is the most convenient when pink is your main structure colour and you use it up quickly.

Pink builder gel: Smooth, Tixy or Master?

In the Julia Nessa gel system you will find pink in three series, and each one works differently. Smooth Gel Candy Pink is a hard, levelling gel that can be pinched after about 20 seconds – a good choice when you care about a smooth surface and working on nail forms. Tixy Cover Pink is based on thixotropy and flexibility: it is thick in the jar, and on the nail it becomes slightly thinner and doesn’t run. Master Cloud Pink Gel, on the other hand, is a very thick gel with a pudding-like consistency that holds the C-curve beautifully without pinching – made for extreme shapes and sculpted French.

So builder gels differ not only in colour, but above all in how they behave while you work. If you want to get the perfect shape and a smooth extension surface quickly, choose a hard, levelling gel such as Candy Pink.
