Tixy Cover Milky – a builder gel with ‘shape memory’
At the heart of this product is thixotropy, a technology known as ‘shape memory’. In practice, this comes down to two things every nail stylist appreciates at the desk: free control over the gel and filing kept to a minimum. Tixy Cover Milky stays in place like a drop on a rough surface – it doesn’t run or spread the way standard gels do. That way you can work out the right nail shape while applying the gel, instead of correcting it later with a file, and the work itself becomes easy and predictable.
Builder gels are also called structural gels because they form the structure of the whole nail set: they extend the nail or strengthen it from the base up. The milky white colour of Tixy Cover Milky is a good starting point for light, understated nail sets that your clients can wear every day.
Builder gels for nails – thixotropic or self-levelling?
When choosing a builder gel, nail stylists pay attention above all to how the product behaves on the nail. Self-levelling gels spread on their own once applied and form a smooth surface, but they require quick work so the material doesn’t reach places where you don’t want it. Thixotropic gels, such as Tixy Cover Milky, stay where you put them – so you can take your time modelling the perfect shape.
When working with builder gels, the right consistency for your chosen technique matters too. If you do extensions and like to have full control over the material, thixotropy gives you predictability. That is why the Tixy series was created for the no-file technique – it is meant to give lasting results with as few corrections as possible.

How to extend nails with Tixy Cover Milky builder gel – step by step
The durability of a nail set starts with preparing the nail plate. Before you start building, make sure the following layers will adhere well – it’s essential if you want a gel manicure to last until the next appointment.
- Degrease and dehydrate the nail with Nail Fresh Dehydrator.
- Apply SuperBond or a primer chosen for your client’s needs, then a base coat – you’ll find a suitable one among the base coats for builder gel. Cure it.
- Apply a thin layer of Tixy Cover Milky over the cured base coat.
- Spread the right amount of gel to create a perfect apex. The material doesn’t run to the sides, so you can calmly refine the perfect shape and proportions.
- Cure in the lamp, adjusting the time to its power: 120 seconds in a 36W UV lamp or 60 seconds in a 48W DUAL LED lamp.
On a structure prepared this way you can carry on with the rest of the manicure – colour, eye-catching nail art and top coat – according to the design agreed with your client.
Tixy Cover Milky or Master Milky Gel – which builder gel should you choose?
In the Julia Nessa gel system you’ll find two milky gels with completely different characters. Tixy Cover Milky relies on thixotropy: it stays in place, gives you free control and lets you keep filing to a minimum. Master Milky Gel 30 ml, on the other hand, is a very thick gel with a pudding-like but levelling consistency – it holds the C-curve beautifully without pinching and works well for sculpted French and extreme shapes. Thanks to such a thick consistency you can build for a long time without worrying about flooding the cuticles, and even work on several nails at once. Like the Jelly series, Master is often chosen for nail competitions.
A good gel is one that suits your working style. If you like pinching and value flexibility, choose Tixy. If you build several nails at once and want a C-curve without pinching, take a look at the Master series. The third option is the Smooth Gel series – hard but levelling gels, also designed for work on nail forms.
Who is the 50 ml size for?
The large jar is a choice for the nail stylist who works with this shade every day – in a salon with a full schedule, or when milky nail sets are your speciality. If you’re only just getting to know the Tixy series, start with the smaller Tixy Cover Milky 15 ml, and reach for the 50 ml once Tixy has a permanent place at your nail desk. With a larger jar, remember to close it properly after each time you take out some product – the material cures under the light of the lamp, so it’s better not to leave it open at your nail desk.

Can the milky white Tixy be pinched?
Yes, the ability to be pinched is one of the gel’s properties, alongside flexibility.
Does Tixy Cover Milky let me keep filing to a minimum?
Yes – thixotropy lets you control the gel freely and keep filing to a minimum. You work out the shape mainly with the brush, and the file is used for finishing.

120 seconds in a 36W UV lamp or 60 seconds in a 48W DUAL LED lamp. Always adjust the curing time to the power of your device.
