A milky base without a pink tone – what sets this Naked Base variant apart?
The Naked series is a range of tinted bases with different levels of coverage. This variant has the same coverage as the classic milky-pink Naked Base (30–40%), but instead of pink it gives a clean, milky-white effect. It’s a good solution when your client doesn’t like a pink tone and you want to even out the colour gently, without a “painted-on” look. Compared with the transparent version of the classic base, it evens out the tone better while staying subtle.
- Shade: milky white.
- Coverage: 30–40% – partial camouflage of imperfections.
- Consistency: thick, self-levelling.
- Hardness: medium – for weak and brittle nails.
- Overlay: can be used to build up the natural nail plate.
- Base for gel: yes.
- Volume: 8 ml, made in Europe.
Milky base under gel polish or with a top coat alone – the manicure effect
With 30–40% coverage, the base doesn’t hide the nail plate completely – it just evens out its tone. That way the gel polish you apply next looks more even, and with delicate, semi-transparent colours the unevenness of the background is less visible. A milky base is the foundation of a gel polish manicure in light, pastel and white shades, where a clean background matters.
You can also leave the base on its own as a subtle finish: after curing, apply a top coat and you get a natural, well-groomed look. Clients who want pretty hands without an obvious colour choose this kind of minimalist manicure. Careful preparation and a well-worked-in first layer are the foundation on which you’ll build a long-lasting manicure.
How to apply and cure a milky gel polish base in the lamp – step by step
- Degrease and dehydrate the surface with Nail Fresh nail dehydrator.
- Once it has dried, apply SuperBond or a primer chosen to suit the type of nail.
- Work in the first layer of base thinly and thoroughly.
- Use the second layer to build the apex and level out the natural curves.
- Cure the base: 30 seconds in a 48W DUAL LED lamp or 180 seconds in a 36W UV lamp.
Keep away from the cuticles – the product shouldn’t touch the skin. The self-levelling properties help you get a smooth, glassy surface and make it easier to build the apex, but remember that a thick layer is harder to cure properly.
Milky base for gel and for nail extensions
You can also use this base as a base under gel. If you’re planning an extension or want to reinforce the structure, you can carry on working with gel on the cured layer, keeping a milky, uniform colour underneath. That’s handy when you want one base for both gel polish and gel nail sets.
Milky gel polish base or a base for French manicure? Comparing the variants
- Naked Base 8 ml – the same level of coverage (30–40%), but a milky-pink shade.
- Naked Base Milky Cloud – a milky shade that can replace a gel polish colour.
- Rubber Base Pink – a flexible rubber base (pigmentation 60–70%), a foundation for French, baby boomer and nude nail sets.
The Rubber line also includes Base Milky – a milky, flexible base with 60–70% coverage that makes neon colours pop. Choose it when flexibility and stronger coverage matter to you; choose a base from the Naked series when you prefer medium hardness and a light, natural effect.
Who is this gel polish base for?
It’s for the nail stylist who works with natural nails every day and wants to subtly improve their look. It works well on weak, brittle nail plates that need strengthening, for clients who prefer a clean, milky effect, and as a universal foundation under light colours. Thanks to its medium hardness and the ability to build up, it also works well for gently evening out the shape, which adds to the longevity of the nail set.
